Understanding the Number

What You Are Actually Paying For

A surgical quote is not one price. It is six separate costs bundled together, and the difference between a ₹95,000 quote and a ₹1,80,000 quote for nominally the same operation is almost always in which of the six are included and at what standard.

1. The surgeon’s fee

This is the largest single component and the one that varies most. It reflects who holds the instruments: an MCh-qualified plastic surgeon performing the case personally, or a junior operating under nominal supervision. Ask directly who will perform your surgery, and get the answer in writing.

2. Anaesthesia

A consultant anaesthetist present for the whole procedure costs more than intermittent sedation administered by the operating team. This is not a corner worth cutting, and it is frequently the line quietly missing from a low quote.

3. The operating facility

An NABH-accredited theatre or a hospital-attached facility carries real fixed costs: sterile processing, monitoring equipment, recovery nursing and emergency provision. A procedure room in a clinic does not, which is exactly why it is cheaper and why it is the wrong place for surgery under general anaesthesia.

4. Implants and consumables

Breast implants from established manufacturers with a documented warranty cost several times more than unbranded alternatives, and the make, model and serial number should be recorded in your file and given to you. VASER probes, cannulae, drains and sutures are consumables that a proper quote lists.

5. Garments, medication and dressings

Compression garments for body contouring, surgical bras, binders and the first week of medication add up to a meaningful amount. Two garments are needed, not one, because the first is worn while the second is washed.

6. Follow-up

Reviews at day three, week two, month three, month six and month twelve. In this clinic they are included for twelve months. Where they are billed per visit elsewhere, the true cost of the surgery is materially higher than the headline figure.

Five charges that commonly appear after a low quote

Anaesthetist’s fee billed separately; theatre charges billed by the hour rather than the case; compression garments sold at the post-op visit; medication billed at discharge; and follow-up consultations charged per visit. Ask for each of these to be confirmed in writing as included or excluded before you pay a deposit.

Financing and EMI

Zero-cost EMI over three to twelve months is available on approved credit cards, and longer tenures at standard interest through finance partners. You will be shown the exact monthly figure for your specific quote, including any processing charge, before you commit. The clinic does not receive a commission on financing, and there is no pressure to use it.

What insurance will and will not cover

Purely aesthetic surgery is excluded from every standard Indian health policy, and any clinic suggesting otherwise is misleading you. Genuinely functional indications may be partly claimable, and these are the realistic ones:

The clinic prepares the clinical documentation to support such a claim. The decision always rests with your insurer, and no clinic can promise approval.

Patients on Pricing & Transparency

"I met four surgeons in Gurgaon before choosing Dr. Khare. He was the only one who told me which areas would not respond well and why. Six months on, the abdomen and flanks are flat and the scars are invisible. No sales pressure at any point."

Rohit MalhotraVASER Liposuction · DLF Phase 3

"After two pregnancies I had loose skin and muscle separation that no amount of Pilates could fix. Dr. Khare explained exactly what a tummy tuck could and could not do. I was back at my desk in twelve days and I finally feel like myself again."

Ananya SethiMommy Makeover · Golf Course Road

"I lived with this since school and put it off for fifteen years. The surgery took two hours, I went home the same evening and was back in the gym in three weeks. Genuinely wish I had done it a decade ago."

Karan BediGynecomastia Surgery · Sector 56

"What I liked most was that he refused to give me the nose I showed him on my phone, and explained what would actually suit my face. The result looks like me, not like surgery. Breathing is better too."

Meher KaurRhinoplasty · Sushant Lok

"The hairline was designed for my age instead of the teenage look people end up with. Dr. Khare did the slits himself. At month nine the density is exactly what the plan promised."

Vikram RaoFUE Hair Transplant · Sohna Road

"Years of back and shoulder pain, gone. The consult was unhurried and every cost was itemised in writing before I paid anything. The nursing team checked on me every day of the first week."

FAQ

Cost & Payment Questions

Cosmetic surgery in Gurgaon ranges from about ₹45,000 for a small hair transplant session to ₹5,00,000 for a full mommy makeover. Liposuction typically costs ₹95,000 to ₹3,50,000, gynecomastia surgery ₹65,000 to ₹1,50,000, rhinoplasty ₹1,10,000 to ₹2,75,000, and a tummy tuck ₹1,50,000 to ₹3,25,000. The final figure depends on the number of areas, tissue characteristics and whether procedures are combined.

Every quote from this clinic includes the surgeon fee, the consultant anaesthetist, operating theatre charges, standard consumables and implants where applicable, compression garments, the first week of medication, and every follow-up consultation for twelve months. Nothing is added afterwards, and complications needing care within that period are not billed to you.

Three reasons account for most of the spread. First, who operates: a surgeon-performed procedure costs more than one delegated to a junior or a technician. Second, where: an NABH-accredited theatre with a consultant anaesthetist costs more than a procedure room. Third, what is left out: a low headline price frequently excludes anaesthesia, garments, medication and follow-up, which appear later as separate bills.

Yes. Zero-cost EMI over three to twelve months is available on approved credit cards, and longer tenures through finance partners at standard interest. The clinic will show you the exact monthly figure for your quote before you commit to anything.

Purely cosmetic surgery is excluded from every standard Indian health policy. Functionally indicated surgery may be partly claimable: septal correction performed during rhinoplasty, breast reduction where back pain and shoulder grooving are documented, gynecomastia with a pathological cause, and reconstruction after trauma or cancer. The clinic prepares supporting documentation, but the insurer decides.

A nominal consultation fee applies and is adjusted against your surgery if you proceed. The fee exists so that consultation slots go to patients who genuinely want an assessment, and it means the visit is a clinical assessment rather than a free sales appointment.

Cost differences between Indian cities are smaller than they appear once travel, accommodation and the practical difficulty of follow-up are added. Follow-up is the part most patients underestimate: reviews at day three, week two, month three and month six all need to happen with the surgeon who operated on you. A complication managed remotely is far harder to fix.
